πŸš΅πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Representing the MTB community in Smithers, BC 🌲

The Smithers Mountain Bike Association (SMBA) is a member based organization that supports the mountain bike community in Smithers through trail development, maintenance, and events.

Mountain biking in Smithers is booming. In 2021, we registered over 500 members and have taken on ambitious goals to enhance, expand, and maintain our trail network.

As the workload and complexity of administering the SMBA's projects have increased, we have come to the realization that we require a paid Executive Director like many other clubs of our size in the province.

An Executive Director will help us:

As our association grows and volunteer support expands, the role of the Executive Director will evolve. In the immediate term, the E.D. will provide support administering our grants and sponsorships, dealing with associated reporting requirements, and managing our various contracts for trail building and maintenance.

The Executive Director will report to the board and provide support to our volunteer-run organization.

Job Description

⏱️ Work Schedule

The E.D. position is mostly seasonal work. In consultation with the Board, the ED will ramp up work in the spring (April 1) and wrap up in the fall (end of Sept - Mid October). We anticipate that an ED will need to do some paid work in order to "get up to speed" before we kick off next spring.

Hours worked will vary, but in general should not exceed 10-20 hours in a week unless overtime is approved by the Board.

It is important to note that some work will need to be completed during regular working hours in order to line up with other staff or contractors (9:00 AM β‡’ 5:00PM).

πŸ’° Compensation

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, but we are budgeting for roughly ~$28.00/hour for Administration and Field work.

πŸ“’ Reporting

The E.D. reports to the Board who will provide advice and direction when needed. The E.D., together with Treasurer will retain administrative responsibility for SMBA financial budgeting/tracking, spending authorizations and getting strategic direction from the Board on matters such as standards, safety, priorities and communications.
